Remembering Serbian soldiers and civilians killed in Veľký Meder concentration camp in Slovakia



A delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, led by Head of the Public Relations Department, Brigadier General Asst. Prof. Mihilo Zogović, attended the commemoration of the death of civilians and soldiers killed in the Vel’ký Meder concentration camp in the Slovak Republic.
On that occasion, members of the Serbian delegation laid a wreath and paid respects to the civilians and soldiers who died in the Vel’ký Meder concentration camp, where more than 21,000 prisoners were once held. Soldiers died in the camp due to poor conditions and between August 1914 to October 1918, 5,135 Serbian soldiers died there.  

A day before, the delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces laid a wreath at the Petržalka-Kopčany Cemetery in Slovakia, where 51 people from the former Yugoslavia who died between 1916 and 1918 are buried.
  The commemoration of the death of civilians and soldiers who died in Slovakia was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, Military Academy cadets, students of the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies, representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Social and Veteran Affairs, as well as representatives of associations fostering the traditions of the Serbian liberation wars.
