Infantry company undergoes pre-deployment preparation

A Serbian Armed Forces infantry company is currently doing collective training at the Borovac training ground and South Base as part of their pre-deployment preparation for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
The field training is part of monthslong preparations that members of this unit, drawn from the Second Army Brigade, have been going through, in order to fully prepare for the execution of mission-specific tasks.

Following the individual tactical and weapons training conducted during the first stage of their preparations, the unit is now practicing tactics, techniques and procedures for the execution of tasks awaiting them in Lebanon, such as patrolling, securing checkpoints, escorting convoys and exercising crowd control. Tactical missions and exercise scenarios that unit members are playing out are completely adapted to the situations they might find themselves in during the execution of missions in the area of operations.

The unit members wrap up their preparations next month with the execution of a tactical exercise, where their degree of training and level of interoperability will be tested.
Last week, representatives of the Spanish Armed Forces, who will be performing command duties in the Spanish battalion, alongside members of this SAF infantry company, attended a segment of the infantry company’s training.

The SAF infantry company’s contribution to UNIFIL started in 2013. The Serbian contribution to this UN peacekeeping operation currently comprises a force protection platoon, staff officers and a group of specialists responsible for providing support to our contingent.
