International course on protection of civilians in peacekeeping operations

An international course on the protection of civilians in peacekeeping operations, hosted by the SAF Peacekeeping Operations Centre, is being held in Belgrade this and next week.
Our Centre is certified by the United Nations Integrated Training Service to deliver the course, which is being attended by members of the Serbian Armed Forces and armed forces of the Republic of South Africa, Slovakia, Tanzania and Spain. They will be trained in the application of the civilian protection concept in UN peacekeeping operations.

The training program includes theory lessons on modern challenges and priorities of peacekeeping operations and UN civilian protection standards, and gives the trainees an opportunity to practice using the established procedures in situations where the lives of civilians are in imminent danger in the area of operation.
The training is being conducted by the Peacekeeping Operations Centre instructors and visiting lecturers from the Peace Support Operations Training Centre in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the planning and execution of all tasks, the Serbian Armed Forces pay special attention to the protection of civilians, and courses like this are only one of the activities carried out to this end.
