Today, a delegation of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces attended a commemoration ceremony to mark the Remembrance Day of the suffering of the Serbs, Roma and Jews in the Second World War held in the Memorial Park “Jajinci”.
The state ceremony of paying homage to the victims was led by Prime Minister Ana Brnabić who, with the Guard of Honour of the Serbian Armed Forces and sounds of the national anthem, paid homage to the victims by laying a wreath at the Monument to the victims of the infamous killing grounds.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, representatives of the city of Belgrade, SUBNOR of Serbia, numerous associations, war veterans, surviving camp inmates and descendants of the victims. Representatives of the diplomatic corps in Serbia paid homage to the victims by laying white roses.

Jajinci are the largest killing grounds in the territory of occupied Serbia in the Second World War, where from summer 1941 until autumn 1942 Nazis shot around 80,000 Serbs, Jews and Roma. The Memorial park, with the monument dedicated to the victims, was opened on 20th October 1964, on the occasion of marking 20th anniversary of the entry of partisan forces into Belgrade.
