Remembering Serbian and Greek soldiers killed in First World War
A traditional commemoration ceremony for Serbian and Greek soldiers who were killed in the First World War and buried in Pirot was held in this town today, with full military honours.

Wreaths were also laid at the monuments to the fallen fighters by representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, embassies of Greece and Cyprus, local self-government bodies and organizations that keep alive the traditions of defensive and liberation wars.

A total of 7610 Serbian and 358 Greek soldiers and officers who fought side by side and were killed during the First World War are buried in Pirot. Every September, a joint Serbian-Greek commemoration ceremony is held in their honour
