Minister Vučević attends opening of “Family Days in Serbia“ event

Acting on behalf of the President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević today attended the opening of the event “Family Days in Serbia” in Perlez near Zrenjanin.
The event "Family Days in Serbia" was first held in 2021, and its main goal is to promote family as a pillar of society.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Vučević recalled the words of Bishop Nikolaj Velimirović, who said that he who is a parent, who has children, is blessed and glorious - blessed and glorious both before God and before the angels and people.

- We believe that only the people who love their families, who love their parents, who love their children and other people's children, can understand, love and respect other people. That people who don't love their family or don't love their city and country can't love other cities, other countries, or other nations - said Minister Vučević, adding that it is natural to love first and foremost your own people, and to respect everyone else.

According to him, we witness numerous attacks nowadays, and there are almost always two targets.
  - The first one is the free and independent state, and the second one is the family. Everything else is allowed in a sense, but not to have a state, not to have the right to think for yourself, to make your own decisions, to view family as something that limits, constrains, restrains you, prevents you from fulfilling yourself in life, career, from enjoying life – those are attacks. You can hear every day that young couples, if they decide to have children, will not be successful in business, will not be able to achieve their goals, will not be able to travel - stressed Minister Vučević and added that these are the phrases we can hear every day, even through the media.

Minister Vučević said that we firmly believe in traditional values.

- We must say loud and clear that we believe in traditional values, that we believe that our parents are mother and father, that we give birth to daughters and sons, that we have brothers and sisters, that we love our families and that we do not impose these values on anyone. We just ask everyone else - don't take away from us the things and values that were given to us by God and in which we firmly believe. Believe in whatever you want, but don't take away our right to believe in what graces us, what has guided and protected us so far, and will keep doing so in the future. And I don't want to fawn upon anyone or to be modern, I don’t want us to be successful by renouncing everything that defines us - emphasized Minister Vučević.
According to him, we understand our history, but we are concerned about and are fighting for a better future.

- It is the duty of a responsible nation. It is the duty of a responsible, free and independent state. But, yes, we believe that marriage is the union of a man and a woman, that we give birth to male and female children, that we love our friends, that we love our people, and that we love our homeland, that we live for it and work for it. Nowhere is better than in Serbia. What the life in Serbia will be like depends only on us. It's our home, it depends on us how we arrange it. To repeat day after day that life is better somewhere else is almost a genocide policy. What makes somewhere else better? Here is better, we just need to make sure it's better, like in our house, like in our flat - said Minister Vučević.

He thanked the Ministry of Family Welfare and Demography, as well as other representatives of the State Government, the Provincial Government and local self-governments and the residents of Perlez, whose population is growing.
Minister of Family Welfare and Demography Darija Kisić said that this event is the most beautiful picture that can be sent from Serbia, a picture of smiling children and proud parents, grandparents, and that children and family are our greatest treasure.

- It is wonderful to see the smiles on the faces of so many children, to see our future. Our Government is determined to do everything to increase our birth-rate, and it was on the initiative of our President, Aleksandar Vučić, that we launched a whole series of measures and activities to boost our population growth rate, to increase the number of smiling children in our country. We are marching boldly towards that goal and we are seeing the first results. In July alone, 230 more babies were born than in the same period last year - pointed out Minister Kisić and said that we should encourage young people to start their families as soon as possible, because that is without a doubt the most beautiful and important thing they can achieve in life.
As part of the event, numerous activities and workshops for children were organized, as well as the "Health Bazaar" and free medical checkups for all visitors.

The event was attended by Minister of Health Danica Grujičić, Minister of Sports Zoran Gajić, Mayor of Zrenjanin Simo Salapura, provincial secretaries, representatives of local self-governments, clergy and numerous visitors.
