Visit from Ohio National Guard Adjutant General
In accordance with the international cooperation plan of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, Adjutant General of the Ohio National Guard, Major General John Harris, is paying an official visit to our country.
General Harris today visited the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, where he discussed with Chief of the General Staff General Milan Mojsilović the current security situation in the region and opportunities for further advancement of bilateral military cooperation.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ohio National Guard, which was established 17 years ago as part of the State Partnership Program between Serbia and the United States, is successful and comprehensive and is constantly being improved. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of joint activities related to training, NCO corps development and cyber defence for achieving interoperability and a higher level of operational capabilities of the armed forces.
The two men agreed that expanding cooperation into the civilian sector opens up new opportunities for improvement in relations, especially through the implementation of various humanitarian assistance projects, which create a long-term positive effect on the lives of the citizens of the Republic of Serbia. This is also supported by today's signing of the Protocol on Cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the American state of Ohio at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, which represents a new framework for further development of relations in the areas of common interest.
Prior to the official talks at the General Staff, General Harris was also received by President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić.
The Ohio National Guard Adjutant General is due to have a meeting with Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević and to visit some of the units of the Serbian Armed Forces.
