Minister Vučević visits pontoon bridge over Great Bačka Canal
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević visited today the pontoon bridge over the Great Bačka Canal on the regional road linking Apatin and Sombor, which was installed by members of the Pontoon Battalion, SAF River Flotilla.
During the visit, Minister Vučević highlighted the importance of civil-military cooperation and emphasized that by installing the pontoon bridge, the Serbian Armed Forces have helped the residents of this region a lot and made their lives easier, since now they don’t have to use alternative roads to carry out daily activities.
Minister Vučević spoke to the River Flotilla members who are responsible for carrying out maintenance and making sure day and night that the bridge is a safe place for the residents of that area.
This 35 metre-long bridge with a total load capacity of 60 tons, which was installed at the request of the West Bačka Administrative District, is crossed by about 10,000 vehicles daily.
The Minister of Defence was accompanied on his tour today by the Commander of the Training Command, Major General Željko Petrović, the heads of private offices of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Žarko Mićin and Brigadier General Goran Momčilović, River Flotilla Commander, Captain Ljubiša Marković, head of the West Bačka Administrative District, Goraan Nonković, and the Mayor of Sombor, Antonio Ratković.
