Government’s Political Committee on implementation of UNSCR 1325 National Action Plan holds constitutive meeting



State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nemanja Starović chaired a constitutive meeting of the Government’s Political Committee overseeing the implementation of UNSCR 1325 (Women, Peace and Security) National Action Plan in the Republic of Serbia, which was held in the Palace of Serbia today.
The meeting discussed and adopted guidelines for the development of the third UN Security Council Resolution 1325 National Action Plan proposed by the Ministry of Defence. These guidelines give recommendations and direction to the members of the established interdepartmental Working Group that will take part in the preparation of this document. State Secretary Starović highlighted the importance of drafting a new NAP for the improvement of women's safety, especially in the context of contemporary challenges. The meeting participants agreed that it was necessary to start drawing up the third NAP as soon as possible.
  In addition to representatives of the Ministry of Defence, the meeting was attended by the Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue Tomislav Žigmanov, representatives of other ministries, the Secretariat General of the National Assembly of Serbia, the Coordination Body for Gender Equality, the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, the Institute of Statistics of the Republic of Serbia, and other institutions involved in the work of the Political Committee.
