MOD and SAF delegation lays wreath at Monument to Košare Heroes
A delegation from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, led by Brigadier General Mile Vitezović, has laid a wreath at the Monument to the Heroes of Košare in Belgrade.
Acting on behalf of the President of the Republic, Speaker of the National Assembly Vladimir Orlić, accompanied by Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Nikola Selaković, also laid a wreath. The wreath-laying ceremony was attended by the heroes of the Battle of Košare, representatives of associations fostering the traditions of liberation wars and family members of the fallen heroes.
The names of 108 officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, reservists and volunteers who died in 1999 at the Košare outpost are engraved on the monument’s pedestal.On this day, 24 years ago, the Battle at Košare ended. During the battle, members of the armed forces defended the state border for 67 days and prevented the terrorist KLA from invading Serbia by land from the direction of Albania.
