Meeting with Chief of U.S. National Guard Bureau
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić received today Chief of the U.S. National Guard Bureau, General Daniel R. Hokanson. During the meeting, the President emphasized that, while remaining neutral, our country is ready to improve partnership and cooperation with the U.S. Armed Forces in order to maintain peace and stability in the region and beyond.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević and Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović.
Speaking about the latest turn of events in Kosovo and Metohija, the President informed General Hokanson in greater detail about the causes of the escalation of violence and, in that context, thanked the U.S. side for their engagement and clear messages sent to ease the tension caused by Priština’s unilateral moves.
General Hokanson thanked President Vučić for his leadership in this difficult situation, without which regional peace and stability would be jeopardized. He also highlighted the great contribution of the Serbian Armed Forces to peacekeeping missions throughout the world.
On this occasion, different ways to establish concrete cooperation between Serbia and the USA in the field of defence were discussed.
