SAF contingent provides humanitarian aid in Central African Republic

This week, the Serbian contingent serving with the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) have provided humanitarian aid to the Mother and Child Centre in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic.
Our staff officers and role 2+ military hospital staff have provided the residents of this institution with relief supplies, thus continuing the tradition of the previous Serbian contingents that participated in this mission. In addition to the relief aid, members of the Serbian Armed Forces have made an effort to organize a play and recreation space at the Mother and Child Centre for the youngest patients at this hospital.

Besides being humanitarian in nature, these projects help build up mutual trust between members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the local residents.
The Serbian Armed Forces started participating in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic in 2014 by deploying medical and non-medical personnel, and besides the role 2+ military field hospital staff, our members are deployed there as staff officers and military observers. The Serbian military hospital, which has been fully autonomous and self-sustaining for three years now, provides primary and secondary care for United Nations personnel, emergency surgical and other interventions, basic dental care and MEDIVAC.
