Meeting with Distinguished Athlete of Serbian Armed Forces Đuro Borbelj
Today, Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, received a distinguished athlete of the Serbian Armed Forces, Sergeant Đuro Borbelj.
On that occasion, General Mojsilović presented a wristwatch to Sergeant Borbelj along with the Plaque of the Serbian Armed Forces for exceptional sport results achieved in 2022.
Sergeant Đuro Borbelj was born on 16th May 1995 in Sombor, and he started his professional military service in 2016. He is assigned to the duty of squad commander in the 18th Engineer Battalion, First Army Brigade. He is a member of Athletics Club Apatin, and he has been competing as an active athlete for the national team of Serbia and the national team of the Serbian Armed Forces.
In the previous year, he took part in 23 competitive races where he won 21 first places and two second places. In 2022, he was the champion of Serbia in 5-kilometre track race, 10-kilometre race on road, and semi-marathon and marathon. He holds the record of the Serbian Armed Forces in marathon race.
Conferring the reward to Sergeant Borbelj, the Chief of the General Staff expressed his belief that the latter would continue scoring sport successes in the years to come thus leading the athletes of the Serbian Armed Forces who traditionally achieved notable results at national and international competitions, worthily representing their armed forces and state.
