24th Memorial Regatta “Zoran Radosavljević”
24th Memorial Regatta dedicated to Zoran Radosavljević was held at the weekend on regatta fields on the Sava Lake and the Sava River in Belgrade with traditional support from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. "Zoki's Regatta" is held in honour of a passionate sailor, Major Pilot Zoran Radosavljević, member of the Yugoslav Army’s elite 127th Fighter Squadron, who died heroically on March 26 1999, defending his homeland during the NATO aggression.
This year more than 100 sailors took part in the regatta. The OPTIMIST class, consisting of the youngest sailors under the age of 14, competed on the Sava Lake and more experienced sailors in the ILCA4, ILCA6, ILCA7, Micro and Cruiser classes competed on the Sava River, between Ada Međica and the new railway bridge.
A team of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces participated in the Micro class, and it consisted of Lieutenant (Navy) Aleksandar Jovanović, Second Lieutenant Filip Radonić, and Cadet Sofija Videnović, who finished the race second.
The winner in the OPTIMIST class is Vladimir Vrebalov from Nautical Club Zemun. The best in the ILCA4 category is Relja Milovanović from Nautical Club Gemax. The first place in ILCA6 category was won by Angelina Saračević from Nautical Club Zemun, whereas the first place in ILCA7 category went to Marko Petković from the Academic Nautical Club Belgrade. In the Micro class, the first place was taken by the crew headed by helmsman Miodrag Dokmanović from Nautical Club Zemun.
At this year’s regatta, five largest sailing boats in the Cruiser class took part in the competition, and the cup for the best team went to the crew headed by helmsman Stephan Yuill from Academic Nautical Club Belgrade.
The first memorial regatta "Zoran Radosavljević" was held in September 1999 in Montenegro at the initiative of his friends, who shared his passion for sailing. Since 2007, the Regatta has been held in Belgrade.
