Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević met today with the Minister Delegate at the Gabonese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yolande Nyonda, whose delegation is paying an official visit to our country.
At the meeting, Minister Vučević spoke about the possibilities of establishing defence cooperation, which would contribute to the improvement of the overall relationship between Serbia and Gabon. According to him, this year marks half a century since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and our side wants to develop relations and cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

Minister Vučević also said that Serbia advocated the preservation of sovereignty and territorial integrity, observance of international law, preservation of peace and stability and development of relations with other countries on the basis of equality and mutual respect.
During the meeting, Minister Vučević thanked the Gabonese side for withdrawing their recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called “Kosovo”. He also thanked them for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country.

Minister Nyonda agreed that there was potential for establishing cooperation in areas of common interest and that the first step in that direction was to sign an agreement on defence cooperation.
The meeting defined main areas of cooperation, which, after the signing of the agreement, would be developed in the direction of mutual interest.
