Commemorating anniversary of death
A commemoration was held in the village of Reljan (municipality of Preševo) today to mark the anniversary of the death of members of the Yugoslav Army who lost their lives during the NATO aggression against FR Yugoslavia.
A delegation representing the Serbian Armed Forces headed by Army Commander, Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, family members and relatives of the fallen soldiers and officers, as well as representatives of the local self-government, the Ministry of the Interior and veteran associations laid wreaths at the memorial to the unit members who lost their lives on April 15, 1999.
Defending their country from a far superior enemy, members of a howitzer artillery battalion of the 78th Motorized Brigade died in the village of Reljan in 1999 in an air strike carried out by NATO aviation - Major Ljubisav Stojanović, Captain Dragan Lukić, Staff Sergeant Željko Alar, Corporal Dimče Stamenov, reserve soldiers Aleksandar Popović and Ninoslav Milenkov and Slobodan Mirković, a conscript.
