Minister Vučević meets with representatives of local self-governments
As part of his visit to the Raška Administrative District, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević met with the representatives of local self-governments in Kraljevo today.
At the meeting, Minister Vučević discussed the development of local self-governments and their cooperation with the Ministry of Defence with the head of the Raška Administrative District, Nebojša Simović, the mayor of Kraljevo, Predrag Terzić, the mayor of Novi Pazar, Nihat Biševac, the president of the municipality of Raška, Nemanja Popović, and the president of the municipality of Tutin, Salih Hot.
After the meeting, Minister Vučević said he was satisfied with today’s meeting with the representatives of local self-governments and thanked them for their hospitality.
- I think it was important for us to meet and talk in Kraljevo. In addition to visiting military units and a part of the defence industry situated in this part of Serbia, it was important for me to meet, as Deputy Prime Minister, with the people who head the local self-government. Having done that job myself for a decade, I know how challenging it is, not to say difficult, very demanding and complex on almost daily basis. I have met many of them on various occasions and visited their municipalities, but we have not met like this before, and in this really unique format, I have obtained really valuable information on the current issues on the territories of all four municipalities, i.e. in the Raška Administrative District – said Minister Vučević.
Speaking about the importance of the meeting, he said that he would convey the information he had obtained to the Prime Minister and other government ministers. - As for the further development of the Morava military airfield, which is important for both the civil sector and the Serbian Armed Forces, I would like to point out that we are going to work on that issue together with the ministry headed by Minister Vesić and I am willing to visit Kraljevo again soon together with him – said Minister Vučević.
He said he was pleased to hear from the mayor of Novi Pazar that the construction of the Clinical Centre had begun.
- These are important things. Kraljevo is developing rapidly, as is Novi Pazar. It would be very important for the State of Serbia to provide additional assistance to Tutin and the municipality of Raška, so that these two municipalities could continue to develop and keep pace with Kraljevo and Pazar, which are truly impressive in terms of plans and their implementation. My congratulations to them on their work, I know it is a challenging job, but I also know that they are capable of addressing those challenges. I have seen that they have the energy and will to deal with those things - Minister Vučević said.
It is of utmost importance for the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the State of Serbia, Minister Vučević said, to preserve, foster and improve Serb-Bosniak relations, relations between people of all nationalities living in Serbia, and all citizens living on the territory of this administrative district.
- We do not draw a distinction between people based on their religion or nationality. They are all the citizens of Serbia equally, and that is the policy of the Government, but also the policy of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. I believe that we will preserve good relations, and make them even better in the future, and that we will be proud of each other as people of different nationalities living together, sharing the same values, sharing the same territory, and I would say, the same fate - Minister Vučević said.
The mayor of Kraljevo, Predrag Terzić, thanked the minister of defence for attending the meeting with the representatives of local self-governments.
- I am glad that, besides meeting with military representatives, the minister of defence has found time to meet with the representatives of the civil government sector to discuss the most important issues for the residents of the Raška Administrative District. Today we talked about cooperation with the military authority on our territory, but we also asked Deputy Prime Minister a few very important questions pertaining to the provision of utility services. We have agreed that a lot has been done for the citizens living in the towns and municipalities on our territory – said Mayor Terzić, stressing the importance of the construction of the Morava Corridor and the cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure on the projects to build apartments for the members of security forces.
As part of his tour, Minsiter Vučević will lay a wreath at the memorial to soldiers killed in 1991-1999 wars in Vrnjačka Banja.
