CBRN units undergo training
Members of the 246th CBRN Battalion are currently undergoing training in providing CBRN support to SAF units, at the "Ravnjak” military complex in Kruševac.
Bearing in mind the specific nature of this unit’s tasks, it is imperative that its personnel undergo rapid response training, which is conducted continuously throughout the year in real-world conditions.
During the course of the training, unit members brush up the methodology and procedures followed when working in a contaminated environment, from setting up a field laboratory, detection, taking potentially contaminated samples and processing them, to performing decontamination and taking protective measures in the event of a nuclear or chemical attack. The training process uses portable radiometric and chemical laboratories, latest detectors, decontamination agents and insulating equipment, which keeps personnel fully protected when working with contaminants.
Conducting this type of training is not only a way to provide the 246th CBRN Battalion members with additional skills needed to perform their tasks on SAF operations, but also to improve their ability to provide efficient support to civilian authorities in mitigating the effects of natural disasters, technological and other accidents.
