State Secretary Starović meets with Chief of NATO Military Liaison Office



Today, State Secretary Nemanja Starović met with the Chief of NATO Military Liaison Office in Belgrade, Brigadier General Giampiero Romano. They discussed the current political and security situation in Kosovo and Metohija and cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and NATO within the framework of Partnership for Peace programme.  
State Secretary Starović said that cooperation with NATO was important for Serbia, that it was multifaceted and diverse and that there was potential for its improvement.
 
According to him, cooperation with NATO Military Liaison Office in Belgrade is characterized by cordial relations, based on mutual respect and striving for a common goal – to foster and develop partnership between Serbia and NATO.
 
When it comes to the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija, State Secretary Starović said that Serbia did now wish for conflict escalation and that it was committed to finding peaceful solutions to all issues through dialogue. He underlined the importance of consistent implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and Military Technical Agreement.
According to State Secretary Starović, Serbia remains firm on its position that KFOR is the only legitimate armed formation in Kosovo and Metohija and thus, the greatest part of responsibility for keeping peace and security in Serbia’s southern province lies on it.
