Minister Vučević and General Mojsilović visit 4th Army Brigade
Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević and Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, visited the 4th Army Brigade in the "1st Infantry Regiment of Prince Miloš the Great" barracks in Vranje.
On that occasion, Minister Vučević expressed his belief that all members of the Army and the 4th Brigade would always be competent enough to complete all their tasks, fulfil their duties and live up to expectations in terms of protecting the sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia and all its citizens.
- We all feel proud to be the heirs to a glorious history, tradition, and even the present. First of all, we are responsible for the future, for those who will succeed us, and we are particularly concerned about the circumstances surrounding us. The 4th Army Brigade has increased responsibility, given the environment it works in and its area of responsibility. I am sure that all members of the Serbian Armed Forces, all members of the Army, including the members of the 4th Brigade, will always be competent enough to complete all their tasks, fulfil their duties and live up to expectations in terms of protecting the sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia and all its citizens - said the Minister of Defence.
He said that efforts to strengthen the Serbian Armed Forces would continue, with the aim of improving the service members’ financial situation and providing them with the best equipment and weapons.
The 4th Army Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Novica Petrović, held an introductory briefing, introducing the Minister of Defence to the organization, tasks and state of affairs in that Army unit. Following the briefing, Minister Vučević and General Mojsilović attended a short display of capabilities of the M-84 tank company, featuring a column formation and movement.
After visiting the 4th Army Brigade’s Memorial Room, dedicated to the rich military history of Vranje and the surrounding area, covering the period from the Serbian-Turkish wars to the conflict in Kosovo and Metohija and the aggression in 1999, Minister Vučević wrote the following lines in the memorial guest book:
"I am grateful for the opportunity to get acquainted with our glorious military tradition in Vranje and the Pčinja District. I am particularly proud of the Memorial Room display, which gives a clear picture and absolute proof of the fact that our people have always been on the right side of history and that they have paid the highest price for their freedom."
In 1993, Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević did his military service as part of the July intake. He spent some of his military service in the "First Infantry Regiment of Prince Miloš the Great" barracks in Vranje, where he took the oath of enlistment.
Army Commander, Lieutenant General Milosav Simović and Chief of the Operations Department, General Staff, Lieutenant General Želimir Glišović, were also in attendance during today’s visit.
