Meeting between Minister Vučević and Ambassador of Cyprus
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Serbia, Demetrios Theophylactou, today.
At today's meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on the political and security situation in the region and beyond, cooperation between the two countries, and new directions to be taken in defence cooperation.
Minister Vučević noted that relations between Serbia and Cyprus were traditionally good and based on the historical closeness and friendship between the two nations. Emphasizing the importance of mutual support and adherence to the principles of international law, Minister Vučević thanked Cyprus for maintaining a principled stance regarding the preservation of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, adding that Serbia also supported the territorial integrity of all United Nations member states. He confirmed Serbia’s determination to intensify defence cooperation, for the mutual benefit of both countries, especially military to military and military-economic cooperation.
Ambassador Theophylactou thanked Serbia for its support in finding a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem and expressed readiness to support all activities that would help advance defence cooperation.
