International UN Staff Officer Course
The international United Nations Staff Officer Course, organized by the Peacekeeping Operations Centre, started today at the “South” base near Bujanovac.
The course is attended by members of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Interior and the armed forces of seven other countries. Over the next three weeks, they will be trained to perform staff officer roles in peacekeeping operations in accordance with the United Nations procedures and standards.
The training program includes the basic aspects of how UN Integrated Missions work, familiarization with the planning process in a mission’s military component, staff functions and procedures, and a significant part of the course is devoted to analyzing the latest deployment experiences from current United Nations peacekeeping operations.
The Peacekeeping Operations Centre is certified by the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations and the Department of Field Support to deliver this course in accordance with the United Nations standards and procedures. Foreign countries consistently show great interest in sending their personnel to this course, which confirms their trust in the Serbian Armed Forces’ pre-deployment training system.
