Ninety Years of CBRN Service
With a range of events, the Serbian Armed Forces marked the Day of CBRN service and 90 years since the establishment of the first unit for anti-chemical protection in our armed forces.
In the barracks “Car Lazar” in Kruševac, a military celebration was held on that occasion at which the present summarised the results achieved by the 246th CBRN Battalion and CBRN Training Centre in the previous year, and the most deserving individuals received rewards and commendations.
The observation of the holiday was also an opportunity to look back on the 90 years long history of the CBRN service and to underline once again the high level of competence of the soldiers and their superiors, which was confirmed at numerous exercise activities and during the execution of a wide spectrum of tasks of providing assistance to the citizens of the Republic of Serbia.
As part of the observation of the holiday, an official celebration took place this evening in Kruševac Theatre, attended by numerous distinguished guests, at which Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Petar Cvetković presented gold plaques of the Serbian Armed Forces to the 246th CBRN Battalion and the CBRN Training Centre.
The Day of the CBRN Service of the Serbian Armed Forces is marked on 28th September in memory of the day when in 1932 the establishment started of the first regular unit for anti-chemical protection of the gunpowder battalion within the Institute “Obilićevo” in Kruševac.
