Observation of Military Holidays
Today, military celebrations were held in garrisons of the Serbian Armed Forces to mark the holidays of Artillery branch, Military Police, Quartermaster, Technical and Transportation services, and Mixed Artillery Brigade Day, and the Day of the Logistics Training Centre.
During the celebrations congratulatory messages were read, and the opportunity was taken to review the results achieved in the previous period, and the most deserving individuals received awards and commendations.
Day of Artillery Branch and Day of the Mixed Artillery Brigade are marked on 14th September in memory of the day when in 1918 artillery preparation was initiated for the breach of the Thessaloniki Front.
Day of Military Police is marked on 14th September in memory of that date back in 1955 when the Military Police of the Yugoslav People’s Army was established.
Day of Quartermaster Service is marked in memory of 14th September 1885, when an order was passed on Main quartermasters’ service and administration of the Supreme Headquarters.
Day of Technical service and Day of Logistics Training Centre are marked on 15th September in memory of that day, back in 1891, when a powder mill “Obilićevo” near Kruševac, started producing nitrocellulose (smokeless) gunpowder.
Day of Transportation Service is marked in memory of 15th September 1908 when a decree on the establishment of the Transportation service was issued.
