Infantry company’s pre-deployment training assessed
Tactical exercise "Serbian Shield" has been conducted at the South Base and the Borovac Training Ground this week, as part of the pre-deployment preparations of the SAF infantry company for deployment with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
The exercise simulating real-life situation in the area of operations tested the readiness of this 4th Army Brigade unit to perform tasks as part of the UN Peacekeeping Force.
During the three-day exercise, the unit personnel were monitored and evaluated while practicing procedures in the event of an attack on the base, manning a permanent checkpoint and observation post, protecting convoys, managing mass gatherings, setting up checkpoints, working with mines and explosives, performing MEDIVAC and carrying out other tasks.
The regularity of procedures and compliance with international training standards were overseen by the SAF General Staff evaluation team, and the evaluation results showed that this contingent was fully prepared for deployment.
The participation of the SAF infantry company in UNIFIL began in 2013, and the unit has been performing tasks as part of the Spanish battalion in the multinational brigade in Sector East.
