Training with Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers

The 2nd Army Brigade Self-Propelled Howitzer Artillery Battalion personnel are currently undergoing intensive training in the combat use of the 122 mm 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers at the training grounds and in "Jovan Kursula" Barracks, Kraljevo.
The crews manning these artillery systems are being trained in executing collective missions and providing fire support to Army evolution units.

At this time, soldiers and officers are learning how to prepare for and deliver indirect artillery fire, primarily focusing on actions and procedures undertaken when delivering sudden, efficient and concentrated artillery fire against targets at various distances. In addition to the basic variant of Gvozdika, the training uses the modern variant, equipped with a modern fire control system which gives it greater firepower, speed and firing accuracy, producing more powerful fire effect when engaging targets with multiple missiles simultaneously.
This training cycle concludes with a live fire tactical exercise whose goal is to assess the howitzer crews’ skills in carrying out specific assignments.

The 122 mm 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers are designed to destroy and neutralize enemy troops and artillery weapons, strong points, wire and other obstacles, create passages through mine fields and obstacles, illuminate the battlefield and deliver screening fire.
