Special Forces training
This week, members of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade have embarked on a varied training programme as part of their routine summer training outside the unit’s peacetime locations.
For several days, members of "Griffins" and "Falcons", special operations battalions which are part of this brigade, performed various activities including landing from helicopters on multiple locations, where they carried out unit-specific tactical and fire missions in unfamiliar areas.Special Forces practiced tactical actions undertaken while scouting unfamiliar and rough terrain, predicting encounter battle, gathering intelligence, conducting raids, diversions and ambushes, air evacuation, and overcoming water obstacles using makeshift and standard issue equipment.
The training which lasted for several days ended with a tactical live-fire exercise which confirmed the teams’ high level of competence for performing special forces’ tasks.
A large number of complex and diverse assignments performed by the 72nd Special Operations Brigade require a high level of physical fitness, motivation and mental strength. For that reason, this unit conducts intensive training on a daily basis so as to maintain and improve the capability for conducting special operations and actions in all conditions.
