Infantry company preparing for deployment to UNIFIL
As part of comprehensive preparations for deployment to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, a 4th Army Brigade infantry company is undergoing intensive training at the Borovac Training Ground and at the South Base.
This is the first part of training which lasts for several months. The unit’s aim is to reach the required level of training and interoperability for the execution of tasks in an international environment and successful participation in peacekeeping in this Middle Eastern country.
Members of the infantry company will follow a training programme including tactical, weapons and physical training, learning to handle telecommunication devices and acquiring theoretical knowledge of international humanitarian law and rules of engagement and conduct in a multinational operation.
At the end of this training period, the infantry company will conduct a tactical exercise, where their readiness for participation in UNIFIL will be evaluated.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying an infantry company-sized unit to this peacekeeping mission since 2013, and currently our staff officers, a force protection platoon and a national support element are in the area of operation.
