Special Actions Training for Dog Handlers and Service Dogs

The Dog Training Centre in Niš is currently the venue of the training for dog handlers and service dogs for counter-terrorist and counter-sabotage actions in special and military police units of the Serbian Armed Forces.
The training, carried out in the Centre, is attended by professional soldiers and non-commissioned officers, who are acquiring new knowledge and skills necessary for the use of dogs in special actions and for administering first aid to the dogs in case of injuries or wounding during task execution.

Concurrently with the training for dog handlers, the dogs, bred in the Centre and selected particularly for this purpose, are trained as well, and upon successfully completed training they will be sent to units of the Serbian Armed Forces. In line with the tasks these dogs are used for, during several-month long training, the dogs undergo general training as well and they practice the actions such as attack, defence, overcoming natural and artificial obstacles, raid on facilities and motor vehicles and neutralisation of opponents.
The conduct of the special actions training for dog handlers and service dogs is carried out in the Dog Training Centre throughout the year and it contributes to the enhancement of capabilities of Serbian Armed Forces special forces to execute a wide spectrum of tasks, having in mind that the dogs, owing to their superior senses, are irreplaceable for some activities of these units.
