Opening of Second Facility of State Data Centre in Kragujevac
Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović PhD attended the start of a trial run of the second facility of the State Data Centre in Kragujevac, that was officially opened by Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, which will house equipment and data of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces, Ministry of the Interior and Security Information Agency.
- I wish to note that we are not talking about information technologies today, and the IT sector as such, not even about digitalisation. Today, we are talking about a new degree of safety of our country. Today, we are talking about opening a separate infrastructure to counter cyber warfare - Prime Minister Brnabić underlined.
Speaking about the cyber warfare and conflicts in Ukraine, the prime minister stressed that such type of projects is vital for the safety of entire state.
- Today, the success and security of countries is reflected in the quantity of states and their bodies, security and commercial infrastructure being targeted by cyber-attacks, and in the way in which those states respond to those attacks, how efficiently and how successfully. I am glad that we have foreseen that this will be one of the things which will significantly determine the security of a country - the Prime Minister stated.”
“We are building infrastructure that is important for our cyber security, because we wish Serbia to keep up with the modern world. Today, in Kragujevac, we have started the trial run of the second facility of the State Data Centre the likes of which are unequalled anywhere in the region”, Minister Stefanović wrote on his Instagram profile (@nebojsastefanovic) following the tour.
The opening ceremony was attended by Director of the Office for Information Technologies and e-Government Mihailo Jovanović, Mayor of the town of Kragujevac Nikola Dašić, State Secretary Branko Živanović, Head of the Private Office of the Minister of Defence Colonel Stefan Kotarlić, Head of Telecommunications and IT Directorate J-6 of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Colonel Mile Vitezović, representatives of the Ministry of the Interior and Security Information Agency.
