Unit Training for Participation in Peacekeeping Operation in Lebanon
On the training area “Borovac” and the “South” Base, a force protection platoon from the units of the Training Command is currently undergoing collective training for the participation in United Nations peacekeeping operation in Lebanon.
The training represents a segment of several-month long preparation which the unit members undergo in order to be fully competent to execute assigned tasks in the peacekeeping operation.
During this part of the preparation, the force protection platoon works in the conditions similar to those in the mission, and the suppositions that it solves are entirely adapted to the situations that it may encounter during the performance of the tasks in the area of operation. The programme of the training includes elements of tactical and physical training and topics from international humanitarian law, with the focus on the execution of tasks during the protection of the base.
In the final segment of the preparation, which is to take place in the middle of the month, the force protection platoon is going to have a tactical exercise to test the competence of the unit for the participation in this mission.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying a force protection platoon in United Nations mission in Lebanon since 2014. The primary task of our unit, which is incorporated into an Italian contingent, is to secure the base where United Nations forces are stationed.
