Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, who is paying an official visit to the French Republic, has met today with a delegation of Senators, led by Christian Cambon, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed Forces.

At the meeting, Stefanović pointed out that bilateral defence cooperation between Serbia and France was good and the interlocutors agreed that there was a mutual commitment to enhancing it further.

On this occasion, he also noted that one of Serbia’s priorities was regional stability, and that Serbia was determined to continue to be the key factor to stability in our region. He underlined that the Open Balkan initiative launched by President Aleksandar Vučić gave a completely new quality to cooperation in our region aimed at stronger economic development and the creation of better living conditions for all citizens, which, according to him, was completely complementary to the European integration process.

He emphasized the importance of the shared history of the Serbian and French nations and said that it was necessary to further develop cooperation on that basis.

The interlocutors also discussed the current situation in Eastern Europe.
