Commemoration of Anniversary of Death of Colonel Milenko Pavlović



Today, in Valjevo, the anniversary of death of the Pilot of Yugoslav Armed Forces Colonel Milenko Pavlović was commemorated. Colonel Pavlović died on this day, 23 years ago, in a heroic battle with far superior NATO aggressor.
 
The commemoration was attended by Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Milan Mojsilović, who, accompanied by Air Force and Air Defence Commander and Commander of 204th Air Brigade, laid a wreath at the memorial to Colonel Pavlović. Wreaths and flowers were also laid by family members and numerous delegations, and the Bishop of Valjevo Isihije, served the religious service. In honour of the glorious pilot, MiG-29 aeroplanes performed a flypast in the sky above Valjevo.
 
Following the wreath laying ceremony, in his address, Chief of General Staff reminded of the personality and work of Colonel Milenko Pavlović, the legendary Commander of 204th Fighter Aviation Regiment.
 
- Milenko was born in these parts, and early in his youth he demonstrated his devotion and love for the calling of a pilot. He completed the Air Military Grammar School, and then the Academy, and throughout his career he was appointed to all commanding duties in the aviation squadron and regiment, becoming along the way an ace pilot and excellent commander, one of the best that armed forces have ever had. His commanding skills and his appearance instilled confidence and he was a strong support to all those with whom he performed military duties, and his brilliant career was crowned by numerous recognitions and decorations – General Milosavljević highlighted.
 
Milenko Pavlović was born on 5th October 1959 in Gornje Crniljevo, the municipality of Osečina near Valjevo. He was a pilot of the Yugoslav Armed Forces and War Commander of 204th Fighter Aviation Regiment, and he died in an aerial battle with NATO aggressor on 4th May 1999 above Valjevo.
