Minister Stefanović Visits Bases “Grlić” and “Veliki Trn” in Ground Safety Zone
Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović PhD visited members of the Serbian Armed Forces in bases “Grlić” and “Veliki Trn” who are engaged on the tasks of securing the administrative line and the control of the Ground Safety Zone, where he took part in a patrol with them.
On that occasion he stated that the state will continue strengthening the Serbian Armed Forces because it knows that it is the sole guarantee that our people will continue living in peace and stability.
- Today, with the patrol of our armed forces, the members of the Third Army Brigade, I had the opportunity to tour a part of the patrol route which they traverse daily from the base “Grlić” to the Base “Veliki Trn”. This is a part of the Ground Safety Zone which is protected by our armed forces every day, ensuring that our citizens are safe and secure. We will continue investing in our soldiers, and investing in new equipment and armament, all aimed at protecting our country. We will never pose a threat to anyone, nor does Serbia want to wage war with anyone, or endanger anyone’s stability and security, but we know that having strong armed forces is the sole guarantee that we will remain safe and secure and that our people will live peacefully – Minister Stefanović stated.
He underlined his satisfaction with having the opportunity to see that our soldiers are well equipped and trained.
- In the upcoming period we will try as much as we can to provide them with the state-of-the-art equipment which will facilitate performing their duties and tasks, but I am greatly impressed both by their self-sacrifice and dedication; and by how much they patrol the terrain and how professionally they do it, and how much they put themselves at disposal to every inhabitant living in this part of the Ground Safety Zone. It is unfortunate that not everyone in our country is so well-meaning towards our armed forces, and that there are those who quite often tongue-lash and criticise our procurement of equipment and armament, but at the same time, I have not heard them doing the same when there are attempts at creating some so-called Kosovo armed forces. I would like, in the future, that we all stand together, unanimous in providing support to our Serbian Armed Forces, and support to our Serbia through all the challenges that wait ahead – Minister Stefanović stated.
During today’s visit Minister Stefanović talked to the members of the Serbian Armed Forces about the challenges they face in the performance of their tasks in the Ground Safety Zone.
Commander of the base “Grlić” Captain First Class Milan Milosavlјević and Commander of the base “Veliki Trn” Major Milan Kuburić informed Minister Stefanović about the situation in the bases and their tasks, and about significant events within their areas of responsibility.
Today’s visit to the members of the Serbian Armed Forces in the Ground Safety Zone was attended by Deputy Army Commander Major General Slađan Stamenković, the Third Army Brigade Commander Colonel Dragan Antić and Head of Private Office of the Minister of Defence Colonel Stevan Kotarlić.
