Exhibition “Grand Leader Karađorđe – Father of Serbia“ opened in Banja Luka



Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources, Katarina Tomašević, and Assistant Minister of Defence for Defence Policy, Predrag Bandić, have attended today the opening of the exhibition "Grand Leader Karađorđe - Father of Serbia" at the Museum of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka.
  Minister of the Interior of Republika Srpska, Dragan Lukač open the exhibition, which was mounted as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Ministry of the Interior of Republika Srpska.

Addressing the gathering, Assistant Minister Tomašević expressed gratitude for the opportunity to attend the events celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Ministry of the Interior of Republika Srpska. She said that Serbia was always there to support friends and associates from the Ministry of the Interior of Republika Srpska and congratulated the citizens on the important jubilee.
  The exhibition "Grand Leader Karađorđe - Father of Serbia" was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the Museum of the City of Novi Sad, and visitors will have the opportunity to see museum pieces that have never been exhibited before and that the citizens of Republika Srpska can see for the first time.

The exhibition consists of more than 70 exhibits including arme blanche, fire arms, combat and decorative weapons, sabres, yataghan swords and knives, rifles, flintlocks and pistols, flint ignition systems, cannon barrels, and weapons accessories.

The exhibits on display are authentic and were used in the First Serbian Uprising.
  The exhibition features portraits of Karađorđe, famous Serbian military commanders of the time, lithographs by Anastas Jovanović, watercolours and sculptures.

The visitors will be able to see the exhibition at the Museum of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka until April 14. It will then be moved to the Cultural Centre in Trebinje and open to visitors until the beginning of May. Finally, the exhibition will be mounted at the Semberija Museum in Bijeljina during the first half of May.
