Minister Stefanović: Kurti wants to shatter peace and destabilize the region
Statement by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD:
"Albin Kurti’s day-to-day inflammatory statements show that he wants to shatter peace and destabilize the region. It is perfectly clear to me that a stable, independent and strong Serbia led by Aleksandar Vučić, as well as its armed forces, are a thorn in the side of many, not only in the region, but also of individuals on the international scene who send messages to Serbia through their spokesman in an effort to intimidate it.
Despite that and all the challenges we face every day, we will not give weight to everything Albin Kurti says or allow it to be a source of fear for the citizens by not responding to false accusations. I will emphasize once again that the Republic of Serbia is not, nor will it be a hotbed of conflict, nor does it stir up tensions. Serbia is focused on its progress and the progress of the region, which it has proven several times over the past years.Let me remind Kurti that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, launched the Open Balkans Initiative, whose purpose is to build links between the Western Balkan states and to contribute to the improvement in living standards of all citizens, as well as reconciliation, by facilitating the movement of people and goods. Kurti was the one who criticized this initiative, which clearly shows who is in favour of conflicts and wars, and who is in favour of peace and progress.
Kurti's senseless claims will not become true thanks to an increased number of media reports. They will never become true, because Serbia wants peace and stability and is only responsible to its people, and we only do what is in our national interest. A concept that is probably little-known to people like Albin Kurti."
