Minister Stefanović with Serbian peacekeepers in Lebanon: Serbia is proud of its boys and girls wearing blue berets



Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, has visited members of the Serbian infantry company in UNIFIL’s Sector East. He said that our peacekeepers were highly professional and that Serbia was proud of its boys and girls wearing blue berets.
- In a conversation with the leadership of UNIFIL, the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, we received an acknowledgment and confirmation of everything we had known - that the Serbian soldiers were held in the highest esteem because of their service. I have had the privilege of talking to our boys and girls who serve here in UNIFIL, most of whom come from the Second Army Brigade, but also from the Training Command and other Army units, and who serve as peacekeepers in sectors East and West, which were assigned to them - said Minister Stefanović.
  He thanked members of the Serbian Armed Forces participating in the mission in Lebanon for representing our country in a dignified manner.   - I would like to thank them for being truly professional and behaving in such a manner that makes our country proud, but also highly respected by the Spanish and Italian contingents that Serbian soldiers are serving with, but also by other participants in one of the largest UN missions with over 10 thousand troops on the territory of Lebanon - said Minister Stefanović.
  He emphasized that the Republic of Serbia would strive to further equip our armed forces.

- To enable our peacekeepers to continue performing their tasks to the highest standards thanks to new equipment and modernization, and we will always strive hard to ensure their safety, security and income - said Minister Stefanović.

During his visit to the largest composition of Serbian peacekeepers, Minister Stefanović talked to the members of the infantry company about their living and working conditions and their impressions about participating in the UNIFIL mission.
  Company Commander Dobrica Veličković briefed the Minister of Defence about the unit’s composition, equipment and operational tasks.

Besides the Minister of Defence, the delegation representing the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Force also includes the Second Army Brigade Commander, Colonel Siniša Stašević, Head of the International Military Cooperation Department, Colonel Nebojša Svjetlica and Head of the Peacekeeping Operations Centre, Colonel Mirjana Milenković.
