Demonstration of cadets’ competence on the occasion of Military Academy Day
On the occasion of the Military Academy Day, cadets of this military educational institution have once again confirmed their competence by performing a tactical demonstration using Airsoft weapons and showing their martial arts skills at the training area.
Besides the final year cadets, the Centre for Physical Education and Sports, the Military Academy Infirmary, the Department of Military Electronic Engineering, the Department of Logistics and the Department of Tactics, which was in charge of organizing the event, also took part in the demonstration.
The Rector of the Defence University, Lieutenant General Goran Radovanović congratulated the cadets on successfully performing the demonstration and emphasized that it was shown once again that training and education provided by the Defence University, i.e. the Military Academy, are delivered in a targeted manner, and are aimed at preparing cadets for performing basic, initial duties in our armed forces units.
- I am proud that the Military Academy has modern equipment, and we will do our best to keep providing new equipment in the future that will help you overcome challenges you may face in your first officer jobs more easily. In the face of new conflicts, we are witnesses that only strong and well-trained armed forces can respond to the challenges that arise - said General Radovanović and concluded that young officers have a crucial role in such armed forces.
- Your competence and knowledge are important prerequisites for our armed forces to be able to carry out the tasks assigned to them, said the Rector of the Defence University.
The demonstration, which consisted of five segments, was attended by the Commandant of the Military Academy, Colonel Srđan Blagojević, PhD. The cadets demonstrated procedures undertaken by a rifle section in the role of reconnaissance patrol and attack on a populated area, tactical actions performed by cadets during situational shooting, military sports exercises, and Airsoft weapons and equipment display.
Over the past year, the Military Academy has been working on the modernization of the teaching process, including the purchase of Airsoft weapons, automatic rifles, machine guns and snipers, so this tactical demonstration is designed to present ideas and ways in which these modern weapons can be used in instruction.
Besides Airsoft weapons, quadcopters have been introduced in the instructional process, which in addition to real-time image transmission, can also be used for reconnaissance and gathering useful information on the surroundings and monitoring the forward scout, including reactions that occur in the area behind him.
Colonel Miloje Ilić from the Department of Tactics says that the greatest importance of the new weapons is that they bring the cadets closer to the real-life scenarios.
- There is also a motivational element. We will also contribute to the popularization of new weapons by starting an Airsoft section, where cadet teams will have the opportunity to compete with civilian teams, and be part of sports events, which greatly facilitates training and makes cadets’ everyday life more eventful - says Colonel Ilić.
During the sports segment of the demonstration, cadets showed a variety of martial arts that they do at the Military Academy. Apart from the traditional ones, such as boxing, kickboxing and judo, the cadets also showed excellent skills in modern martial arts such as MMA and Krav Maga, which proved to be very useful and applicable in the military.
