Regular rotation of force protection platoon participating in UNIFIL

Members of the Training Command’s force protection platoon, who were engaged as part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon since the end of August last year, have arrived in the Republic of Serbia after successfully participating in this peacekeeping operation.  During their six-month deployment in this Middle Eastern country where the security situation is quite complex, they performed all the assigned tasks in accordance with the mandate of the peacekeeping operation and represented the Serbian Armed Forces and the Republic of Serbia in a dignified manner.

The platoon, which performed security tasks in Sector West as part of the Italian contingent, was replaced by a new platoon, which had deployed to the area of operations in mid-February.  In addition to the force protection platoon, the Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying an infantry company, staff officers and a national support element to the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Lebanon. The participation of Serbian troops in UNIFIL has been assessed as excellent by the representatives of the United Nations and partner countries with whom they have performed tasks so far.
