Training in Air Defence artillery missile units
Professional soldiers serving in Air Defence artillery missile battalions are undergoing regular training in carrying out collective tasks in keeping with these units’ purpose.
The focus is on training operators and crews for the combat use of air defence missile systems such as Strela-2M, Strela-10M, Needle and modernized 40 mm Bofors. After receiving theoretical classroom instruction, members of the artillery missile battalions use trainers to practise target acquisition and tracking and missile launching, and in terrain settings they practise tactical and fire missions on a march, masking, occupation of position and calculation of firing elements.
The next segment of training includes firing practices at the "Colonel-pilot Milenko Pavlović" military airport in Batajnica, followed by live-fire drills using aerial targets at the "Pasuljanske livade" range when the units’ skills will be tested in practice. The purpose of air defence artillery missile battalions is to provide direct protection to Army units, and by undergoing this training, the units achieve a high level of competence for the destruction of targets in the airspace.
