Serbian contingent engages in humanitarian work in Central African Republic
Members of the Serbian contingent serving in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) has made a humanitarian relief effort on the occasion of the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia at the Centre for Mothers and Children in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic.
A donation consisting of basic necessities for this institution and children was collected by our staff officers and members of level 2+ military hospital, continuing the practice started by members of the previous Serbian Armed Forces contingent who launched a similar humanitarian relief effort in February last year. By participating in such activities, members of the Serbian Armed Forces make an additional contribution to strengthening mutual trust and the support of the local population for the tasks they are carrying out in this African country.
The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the in the Central African Republic was established on April 10, 2014 by the Security Council resolution 2149. In the same year, the Serbian Armed Forces deployed their first contingent to this mission, consisting of medical and non-medical personnel for the level 2 military hospital in Bangui. In January 2020, the Serbian military hospital was upgraded to level 2+ and became fully autonomous and self-sustaining, meaning that all equipment and personnel is provided by the Republic of Serbia.
