Gun salute performed on occasion of Statehood Day
By order of the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić, members of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard performed a 10-volley gun salute using six artillery weapons today, to mark February 15, the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia.
The gun salute, which was fired from Kalemegdan’s Sava Plateau, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, Brigadier General Savo Iriškić, Head of the Human Resources Department, Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, and Colonel Željko Gavrilović, Deputy Commander of the Guard. Serbia celebrates Candlemas – the Statehood Day in memory of February 15, 1804 when the first Serbian Uprising led by Karađorđe was launched and when the Candlemas Constitution, the first constitution of Serbia, was adopted in 1835.
