Meeting between Minister Stefanović and US Special Envoy for Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, met today with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Gabriel Escobar, who is visiting Serbia.
Minister Stefanović said that the defence cooperation between the two countries was now in an upward trend, particularly in the military to military field and emphasized that joint exercises improved operational capabilities of the two countries’ armed forces. Stefanović and Escobar agreed that good cooperation in this field should be continued and intensified.
According to the US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, strategic dialogue between the Republic of Serbia and the United States is a significant contribution to improving relations between our two countries and it certainly has a positive impact on the relations in the Western Balkans. He expressed his support for the Open Balkan initiative, describing it as an important contribution to our region’s progress.
President Vučić's Open Balkan initiative, Minister Stefanović emphasized, is a significant step towards strengthening mutual understanding and respect in the region and it puts aside differences, while at the same time accelerating economic development and creating better living conditions for citizens.Stefanović and Escobar agreed that only economic development and stability could lead to progress in the entire region.
