Minister Stefanović, Minister Vulin and General Mojsilović discuss situation in Ground Safety Zone



The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, held a meeting today, along with the Minister of the Interior Aleksandar Vulin and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, in the “Toplica Uprising“ barracks in Kuršumlija. The meeting discussed the situation in the Ground Safety Zone.
- We need to intensify our efforts to protect the citizens living in this part of Serbia, protect them from any kind of safety threat, whether physical threat, threat to life, or threat to property. Also, we will not allow illegal logging to go unpunished and the government will do whatever it takes to protect both government-owned and private property located in the Ground Safety Zone. The Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of the Interior have agreed on concrete steps to be taken in these situations - Minister Stefanović pointed out after the meeting.

According to Minister Vulin, Serbian security forces will do everything to preserve the peace and stability in the Ground Safety Zone and he expects KFOR to finally play its role and take on responsibility for the security situation along the administrative border. He expressed concern over organized Shiptar gangs often crossing the administrative border and engaging in illegal logging in the Ground Safety Zone forests and often opening fire on our personnel.  

- Last year alone, these gangs made 56 incursions into the Ground Safety Zone, looting the property of our citizens in an organized manner. The last time was a couple of days ago - said Minister Vulin.
 
A meeting on the security situation in the Ground Safety Zone has begun

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, the Minister of the Interior, Aleksandar Vulin, and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, have arrived at the "Toplica Uprising" barracks in Kuršumlija. A meeting to discuss the situation in the Ground Safety Zone is underway.

It is attended by senior officers of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior.

- The safety of the citizens of Serbia will always be our first priority. We have agreed on concrete and special measures to be taken by the Serbian Armed Forces and our police in order to protect the security and property in the Ground Safety Zone - wrote Minister Stefanović on his Instagram account (@nebojsastefanovic).
