Military volunteers undergo basic parachute training

Class of September 2021, who are performing voluntary military service at the 63rd Parachute Brigade, are undergoing basic parachute training at the “Sergeant-Pilot Mihajlo Petrović“ military airport in Niš.  This is the final stage of the training process for soldiers serving as paratroopers. It lasts for four weeks, three weeks for ground training and one for performing parachute jumps.

Ground training, which is physically and mentally demanding, focuses on learning about parachute equipment and on vigorous physical training, so that soldiers can fully acquire the necessary knowledge about the airborne troop parachute and parachute equipment and master the basics of parachute jumping. The technique is practiced until it becomes automatic in order to minimize potential problems when performing parachute jumps.  This is followed by performing daytime and night parachute jumps, with combat load, using modern airborne troop parachutes that have been used by the unit since 2018.

The result of a successfully conducted basic parachute training are paratroopers trained to perform parachute jumps in all conditions, and almost the entire class will become part of the professional component of the 63rd Parachute Brigade after completing their military service.
