Open competitions for Air Force and Air Defence

Today, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces published an open competition for applicants for the Reserve Officers Course (aviation branch) and the competition for non-commissioned officer positions with the Air Force and Air Defence. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, has invited young people to take the opportunity and become part of the elite “blue” service branch of the Serbian Armed Forces.  - We provide future aviation officers and Air Force and Air Defence non-commissioned officers with the opportunity to work with the most modern aircraft and helicopters, develop professionally, progress and, above all, serve our homeland - said Minister Stefanović.

Candidates who turn 27 by the end of 2022 or younger, who have completed their undergraduate studies, can apply for the Reserve Officers Course. Applications can be submitted until March 31 on the e-government portal, at the Post Office counters, and in the Ministry of Defence centres - former recruitment offices, while candidates residing abroad can do so in the competent diplomatic and consular mission premises of the Republic of Serbia.  All candidates who meet the competition criteria undergo selection process, which includes psychological and medical assessments and selective parachute and flight training in the Serbian Armed Forces units. The course for the selected candidates starts on September 1 this year. Those who successfully complete the course have the opportunity to become active duty aviation officers.

Also, the Air Force and Air Defence Command has published an open competition for the employment of 89 non-commissioned officers with the 250th Air Defence Missile Brigade, the 98th Air Brigade and the 126th Air Surveillance, Early Warning and Guidance (ASEWG) Brigade.  Candidates under the age of 40, who meet the competition criteria and have achieved the best scores in the selection process, have the opportunity to acquire the first non-commissioned officer rank. Depending on the posts, they will be working in Belgrade, Kraljevo, Niš, Novi Sad and other locations where Air Force and Air Defence units are based. Most of the positions require technical skills acquired at four-year vocational secondary schools, and Category B driving licence is required for certain jobs.

Candidates who prove to be the most successful during the selection process will be sent to a six-month non-commissioned officers course in the SAF training centres, where they will acquire the necessary professional knowledge for their future jobs. Participants who successfully complete the training become candidates for permanent employment as active duty non-commissioned officers.
They will have a lot of opportunities for professional development and advancement, along with the benefits that professional military service offers, such as stable and regular income, opportunity to solve the housing problem and excellent health care.
