Specialist soldier training in River Flotilla
Military volunteers serving in the River Flotilla units started their intensive specialist training in December last year. They were assigned to multipurpose river vessels and "Kozara" special purpose ship, where they are trained for boat operators’ duties, after successfully mastering individual basic training in the Training Command centres.
The initial phase of the training is conducted at the anchorage and includes the training in the proper use of rigging, performing work on the deck and practicing procedures during basic ship motions. This is followed by collective training in performing navigation tasks and firing naval weapons. Soldiers assigned to river units complete three quarters of their military service on River Flotilla vessels, in order to adapt to specific conditions aboard ship and undergo complex training programmes that require special skills, intense concentration and teamwork.
Thanks to the commander’s, instructors’ and crew members’ enthusiasm, the soldiers quickly get used to being on board, and after completing voluntary military service, most of them apply for posts as professional soldiers in the Serbian Armed Forces’ River Flotilla.
