Gun salute to mark First World War Armistice Day

By order of the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić, the Serbian Armed Forces Guard fired a 10-volley gun salute today from six artillery pieces from the Kalemegdan’s Sava Terrace to mark the First World War Armistice Day.

The Serbian national flag was raised to the accompaniment of the anthem "God of Justice“ performed by the representative Guard Orchestra. The gun salute was attended by the Guard Commander, Major General Milomir Todorović.

The Armistice Day has been celebrated as a national holiday in Serbia since 2012, in memory of November 11, 1918, when the Entente Powers signed a ceasefire with Germany, thus ending the First World War.
