Promotion of voluntary military service in Valjevo
Interested young men and women were able to get information about voluntary military service at the stands set up by the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces at Valjevo’s City Square, and those who have already decided to join the Serbian Armed Forces were able to fill out their competition applications and start the procedure.
Valjevo is the first of five cities where the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces will be promoting voluntary military service. Members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the MOD Department for Defence Obligations distributed leaflets to interested young people and informed them about the benefits of performing voluntary military service and the possibility of getting employment with the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces afterwards, reminding them that the competition for voluntary military service was constantly open.Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Filipović of the Department for Defence Obligations says that the promotion of voluntary military service under arms is aimed at young men and women aged 19 to 30.
- We have started the promotion in Valjevo and we expect great interest among young people, primarily because of the SAF members’ improved material position and living standards, and because of the opportunity for military volunteers to start serving in the Serbian Armed Forces and get the opportunity for personal and professional affirmation - Lieutenant Colonel Filipović points out.
Bojan Stajčić from Bela Crkva is one of the young people who have stopped at the MOD and SAF stand.- I happen to be in Valjevo today and I saw that they are promoting military service. I would like all young people to perform their military service, just like I will when I finish school. All young people in Serbia should do that - Bojan said.
Besides Valjevo, the promotion of military profession is taking place in Žitište today, followed by promotions in Vršac on August 14, Loznica on August 19 and Požega on August 21.
