Minister Stefanović attends reception celebrating National Day of Egypt
Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, attended a reception on the occasion of the National Day of Egypt hosted by the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Belgrade, H.E. Amr Aljowaily, which was held at the National Library of Serbia.
After the Serbian and Egyptian national anthems were played at the beginning of the ceremony, Ambassador Aljowaily addressed the audience and welcomed them to the celebration of the National Day of Egypt.
- The Serbian culture is rich. We celebrate Serbia’s contribution to the history of this region and its impact on the history of humanity as well. I am very happy that this is the third National Day that I’ve have the pleasure of organizing at three Serbian national institutions, the National Museum, the National Theatre, and now at the National Library – the Ambassador of Egypt pointed out. According to him, the choice of Serbian national institutions as venues to host the celebration of the National Day symbolizes the richness and quality of friendship between the two countries.
- I think that our distinguished invitees are the closest friends and contributors to the relations between Egypt and Serbia. I would like to mention in particular Mr. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, who has recently visited Egypt to sign the Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of defence - Ambassador Aljowaily pointed out.
According to him, an Egyptian delegation consisting of representatives of some of Egypt’s top business, economic and tourism institutions is currently in Belgrade to promote investment in Serbia.
On the occasion of the National Day of Egypt, the Embassy and the National Library of Serbia have organized an exhibition "The Art of Calligraphy, Jewellery and Artefacts from Ancient to Modern Egypt".
The reception was also attended by senior state officials, representatives of the Ministry of Defence, religious communities and the diplomatic corps.
